Microsoft’s 2026 research describes four ways people work with AI: asking (a question, an answer), exploring (wander, then narrow), collaborating (you stay in the loop), and delegating (the agent runs a bounded job while you own the send). None of these is a promotion.
Ask, explore, collaborate, delegate.
That maps to how this Studio already talks about repertoire: Direct, Compose, Contribute, Adapt are kinds of holding, not rungs. You will still Direct most weeks. Delegating a status recap does not make you “advanced.”
Core principles
- Ask: lookup, recap, “what did we say about X.” Fast Chat. Verify names and numbers.
- Explore: options, devil’s advocate, wide then narrow. You stay the editor.
- Collaborate: you and Copilot pass the same document back and forth. The file is the work.
- Delegate: Researcher, Analyst, a tested agent. Bounded job, cited or checkable output, you still send.
