What you can hold
- MotionCompare → PartnerHow you move with the tool: from checking what it produced toward working alongside it.
- ArrangementOne-shot → Custom systemHow the work is set up: from a one-off ask toward a reusable personal or shared system.
- SentimentCautiously transactional → CollaborativeHow far you trust this setup for this work. Not your feelings about AI in general.
- ShapePair → SystemHow wide the setup is: from you-and-the-tool as a pair toward a system other people can inhabit.

Direct
You can hold a single AI interaction, start to finish, without losing the thread. The relationship is still mostly you operating a tool, but you have learned to phrase things so it does what you meant the first time. This is where the basic toolkit and prompt library actually become usable on your own, not just something someone demoed to you. You can solve one clean, bounded question at a time: rewrite a paragraph, check a fact, draft a reply. This stage does not go away. A fast, well-framed single exchange stays the right tool for a small job, and you will use it more precisely later, because you will know exactly when not to reach for more than this.
- Single-interaction literacy
- Framing and steering
- Checking the result

What this work can ask for
Standalone shapes, not compared against repertoire tiers. Same four axes as above.
Motion north · Arrangement east · Sentiment south · Shape west
The ceiling
Illustrative reference: not measured.
An illustrative reference point on these four axes: not a measured score from any real cohort or user group. Use it to see how far a shape can stretch in this model, not as a claim about top performers.
Drafting a routine email
Low arrangement, modest shape. Mastery can look small: a one-shot Compare move with enough sentiment to stay human.
Researching an idea
Uneven on purpose: high motion and sentiment, deliberate dip on arrangement. Research rarely needs a custom system.
Building a specialized agent
Near-max arrangement and shape. Sentiment holds back of the ceiling. Verification is front-loaded into build and test.
Coaching a teammate through a hard talk
Motion and sentiment run high; arrangement stays light. Partnership without scaffolding a new system.
Running a connected, team-wide system
Shared asset / custom system territory. Sentiment solid but not maximal. The work is operational, not intimate.
Thicker repertoire widens the menu. It does not make every meal a banquet.
