Configure the Agent

Agents → New agent → Skip to configure. Name: Client Research & Meeting Prep. Attach Sales Methodology, Brand Voice Spec, Meeting Prep Template from SharePoint or OneDrive.

Lesson 5

Skip to configure — name your documents.

Turn on web search for public client news. Paste instructions that call out each document by exact name. Try it: ask the agent to summarize Meeting Prep Template back — if it cannot, docs did not attach.

Core principles

  1. v1 minimal instructions work for paste-sources-each-meeting workflow — copy block below.
  2. Full system prompt in the workshop guide adds ROLE, GROUNDING, SOURCES, RULES, WHEN UNCERTAIN, NEVER — use when grounding docs are attached.
  3. Test guardrail: give a client fact with no source — agent should refuse or omit.
  4. Desktop browser only for Agent Builder.
  5. Create when smoke tests pass — not when instructions look long enough.

What smoke test confirms grounding attached correctly?

Do this in Copilot

Configure and smoke-test: summarize template back; fail test on unsourced fact.

For full grounding setup, extend instructions to reference "Sales Methodology", "Brand Voice Spec", and "Meeting Prep Template" by name. The workshop guide linked below includes the fuller system prompt pattern.

Minimal agent instructions (v1)

You prepare internal meeting-prep notes for in-person sales meetings.

Rules:
- Cite a source for every client-specific claim; if no source, omit the claim
- Never state what a stakeholder said or wants unless the source attributes it
- Label assumptions clearly
- Output: Objective, Points to hit, Risks, Next steps
