Write a Routing Card

The deliverable is not a winner. It is a one-page routing card you can still read after Copilot changes a model name.

Qualities that survive the next rename.

Prefer durable notes: “pushes back,” “over-hedges,” “great structure, thin on sources.” Avoid “I like the new flagship.”

Pin it where you work. When Microsoft ships a new Copilot option or renames tiers, freeze the same prompts, freeze the same criteria, blind-label, re-score, update the card.

Core principles

  1. Routing table: task type → default Copilot surface and option → upgrade when → avoid when.
  2. Taste notes in qualities, not version numbers.
  3. Archive the exact prompts so you can re-run them.
  4. Retest ritual: freeze prompts, freeze criteria, blind label, re-score, update the card.
  5. Optional later: a second task type that should flip the ranking (creative vs analytical). Not required to finish.

Do this in Copilot

Save a one-page routing card. Put it next to your spin rule if you took Your AI Usage.

Edit until you would actually follow it on Tuesday. Pin it.

Draft the routing card

Help me write a one-page Copilot routing card from this taste test. Mapping (reveal now): [A = OPTION, B = OPTION]. Scores and notes: [PASTE JUDGING OUTPUT]. Task types I do most: [LIST]. Output: (1) Routing table — task type → default Copilot surface + option → upgrade when → avoid when. (2) Taste notes — liked/disliked in qualities that will still make sense after a rename. (3) Battery archive — the exact prompts I used, short. (4) Retest ritual — five steps for the next Copilot model change. No version numbers unless I insist. Prefer fast / deeper / Chat / app-that-holds-the-file plus whatever the UI calls them today.

Techniques: Role + task + format

  • Work stays in Copilot. If a personal assistant won a personal-task test, put that on a separate line — not as a reason to paste customer files elsewhere.
