Prep Doc in Copilot Chat
Start at microsoft365.com/chat — no agent yet. Send the setup prompt, paste source snippets as your next message, answer Copilot's questions before it drafts.
Lesson 1
Sources first, draft second.
In about fifteen minutes: meeting objective, points mapped to people in the room, risks, suggested next step — every client claim tied to a source.
Core principles
- Before writing: list what you learned with source labels; flag gaps; ask up to five short questions.
- Never invent stakeholder views — attribute or omit.
- Sample sources below use fictional NWG content — same client as the PowerPoint deck lesson.
- Output is internal prep — points to hit in the room, not a client-facing deck.
- Answer Copilot's questions before it drafts — fixing wrong assumptions now costs a sentence; later costs a rewrite.

What must Copilot do before drafting the prep doc in the simple prompt?
Research-before-draft prevents invented stakeholder quotes. You correct misreads while assumptions are cheap to fix.

Simple prompt (send first)
I am preparing for an in-person client meeting. When I paste my source snippets in the next message: Before writing a prep doc: 1. List what you learned and label each item with its source 2. Flag gaps and assumptions — do not invent stakeholder views 3. Ask me up to 5 short questions about anything unclear Then draft a one-page meeting prep with: - Meeting objective - Points to hit (mapped to people in the room) - Risks / landmines - Suggested next step Do not draft anything yet. I will paste my sources in my next message. Reply "Ready — waiting for your sources." when you understand these rules.
